According to Salisbury Police, officers were called to an apartment complex along the 100-block of Clancy Street around 6:23 a.m. Friday morning to the reports of shots fire.
Officers say they saw 21-year-old Bryan Javier Ascencion walking down the steps of the apartment breezeway carrying a 12 gauge shotgun and a blanket.
Ascencion didn’t comply with officer commands, police say, but eventually dropped the weapon and went towards a Ford Explorer with the blanket.
When he got into the vehicle and tried to drive off, he was tased and taken into custody, police told WBTV.
Police say Ascencion had earlier been arguing with his girlfriend, who later went to bed. That’s when he reportedly began hitting her with a skateboard and his fist.
She left the apartment, with her two children who were inside at the time of the beating, and Ascencion began shooting a gun inside the apartment.
According to police, at least four of the bullets went through to the next apartment. No one in the neighboring apartment was hurt.
Ascencion was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, resist obstruct and delay, assault on a female and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
