Best weather of the young season on Monday, as West Rowan and Carson pulled off victories. Carson won a non-conference matchup with county rival Salisbury, taking an 8-4 victory at Salisbury’s Robertson Field. Carson jumped on top quickly with three runs in the top of the first inning, starting off with back to back doubles. They would add three more in the fourth building an 8-1 lead and settle for the final four run margin. Meanwhile West Rowan pounded Northwest Cabarrus into a five inning submission via the ten run rule 12-2. Michael Ball pitched four innings in the shortened game allowing just three hits and striking out ten in picking up his second win without a loss. Jeremy Simpson, Michael Pinkston, and Juan Garcia each had two hits, with Garcia and Harrison Baucom having two RBI’s apiece. West improved to 3-1 overall, 2-0 in the SPC.
Games scheduled for Tuesday include a showdown between 4-0 South Rowan at West Rowan and Concord at East Rowan. Both games scheduled to start at 6:30PM. East and Carson will make up a postponed game from Friday Wednesday at Carson starting at 6:30PM.
