UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV)- A high school teacher in Union County has been arrested and charged after deputies say he solicited a minor over the internet from another state.
According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Randall Jared Julian Cassels, of Salisbury, was arrested and charged with soliciting a minor.
Investigators say Cassels was wanted in McDowell County, West Virginia for Solicitation of a Minor by Computer.
Cassels was a teacher at Piedmont High School in Monroe.
According to the school’s website, Cassels – who went by Jared Cassels, was a a member of the English Department.
A note posted on the schools website in September 2013 indicated that he was among the new staff members who recently joined the school.
He reportedly taught English II, III, and IV.
Cassels had already posted bond as of noon on Wednesday.
