GASTONIA, NC (WBTV)- Deputies in Rowan County say someone broke into a patrol car outside of a Gaston County hotel and stole weapons and tactical gear that was inside.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was attending a SWAT/SNIPER TRAINING CLASS in Gastonia on Thursday when someone broke into the trunk of his patrol vehicle.
Items stolen from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office included a Glock model 23, .40 semi-automatic handgun, with night sights, a Streamlight TRL-1 Tac light, a Safariland Glock drop leg ALS holster, a Smith and Wesson M&P15 .223 rifle (fully automatic), a Remington.308, model 700 LTR Police Sniper rifle, with scope, bipod and hard case, and two police tactical vests.
A second patrol vehicle, belonging to the High Point Police Department, was also broken into and items stolen.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of persons responsible.
