Here’s my unsolicited opinion on the pending winter storm: just prepare for it to be pretty bad, then be relieved when it isn’t.
I’ve been comparing predictions from local TV stations and other sources, and they vary widely. Our (WBTV) latest prediction is for 3-6 inches of snow across the central piedmont with heavier amounts to the north, and more ice to the south. Other stations and sources say 4-8 inches, one says 8-12.
It’s not an exact science, so even the best meteorologists can’t speak with absolute certainty.
My experience as a reporter who has seen a lot of this over the years tells me that the thing to do today is fill up your gas tank, get a bag of kitty litter for traction and ice melt for your sidewalk or deck, and yes, bread, milk, and other groceries wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Just don’t freak out, stay home and watch me stand around in it. We’ll get through it and Spring isn’t too far away!
