The Charlotte Bobcats made another giant stride in their upward climb into the Playoffs this season, winning in overtime at Washington against the Wizards Wednesday night 94-88. The Cats started out red hot, taking a twenty point lead in the first half. However, they gave up that lead and eventually trailed in the fourth quarter before pulling even at the end of regulation on an Al Jefferson reverse layup with 3.2 seconds left. The score was 87-87 at the start of overtime, then Kemba Walker hit a long clutch three for the only field goal of the extra period, and the Cats played superior defense cut off the Wizards offense to just one point in the extra period. Al Jefferson led the Cats scoring with 20 points and 18 rebounds. With the win, the Bobcats pulled into a tie with the Wizards for the sixth place spot in the Eastern Conference standings at 40-38, but own the tiebreaker currently with winning three out of four games in their head to head competition. Next game for Charlotte is Friday night at Boston, while Washington goes to Orlando. All of the Bobcats remaining games will have play by play coverage on Newsradio 1490 starting with Friday’s game at 7:30PM. After Friday Charlotte will have only three regular season games left before the playoffs. They host Philadelphia Saturday night, travel to Atlanta Monday, and finish against Chicago at Time Warner Cable Arena on Wednesday. The Playoff schedule will be announced sometime after that final regular season game.
