In college basketball results from Sunday, Top ranked and undefeated Syracuse remained undefeated, downing Clemson at the Carrier Dome 57-44. The Orangemen pushed their record to 23-0 overall, 10-0 in the ACC. Clemson dropped to 6-4 in the conference, 15-7 overall. They are now tied with North Carolina for fifth place in the ACC. Games scheduled for Monday night include Maryland at Virginia at 7:00PM and Miami at Florida State at 9:00PM Other games involving the top Twenty Five Sunday had #2 ranked Arizona rolling past Oregon State 76-54, Wisconsin edged Michigan State 60-58, Connecticut handled Central Florida 75-55, and St. John’s upset Creighton 70-65. Also in Conference USA play, Southern Mississippi routed Charlotte 81-64 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Reviewing Saturday’s activity, North Carolina won its fifth straight at Notre Dame 73-62, Duke won easily at Boston College 89-68, NC State edged Miami on the road, 56-55. Locally, Catawba’s men got a much needed win on the road, beating last place Tusculum 106-87, as Elon Edwards had a career high 35 points. The Catawba women lost 85-61. Livingstone swept a pair of games at Shaw, capturing the men’s game 83-76 and the Livingstone Women won 83-77 in overtime.
