College Basketball: Wolfpack upset at Maryland

A busy night in College Basketball Wednesday night.  14th ranked NC State was upended by ACC foe, Maryland, 51-50 at College Park.  The Terps 7’1″ Center, Alex Len, dropped in a missed shot by teammate Pe’Shon Howard with nine tenths of a second left to give the Terps the one point win.  The Wolfpack had rallied from a ten point deficit with 9:34 left to take a 50-49 lead with 1:41 remaining, and no one scored again until the winning shot occurred.  State dropped to 3-1 in the ACC, 14-3 overall, while Maryland improved to 2-2 in the conference, 14-3 overall.  Miami edged Boston College 60-59 to take over the top spot in the ACC, as they improved to 4-0 in the ACC.  Thursday night, #3 ranked Duke hosts Georgia Tech at 9:00PM.

Catawba lost a pair of road SAC games to Lenoir Rhyne Wednesday.  In the Men’s game the score was 57-51 in favor of Lenoir Rhyne.  Denzel Dillingham made two clutch free throws with 14 seconds left that helped the Bears preserve the win.  Tyrece Little had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Indians.  Dillingham led L-R with 21 points.  Catawba dropped to 4-9 overall, 1-4 in the SAC.  In the Women’s game, Lenoir Rhyne won 62-48.  Catawba dropped to 3-2 in the SAC, 7-6 overall.  Catawba is at Newberry Saturday afternoon.
