High School Basketball Monday Results, Tuesday Schedule

By Howard Platt on December 11, 2012

In area High School Basketball, West Rowan split their doubleheader with Lake Norman, losing the Boys game 78-73, but winning the Girls contest 55-44.  The West Boys had a 20-17 lead after the first quarter, but were outscored 25-13 in the second quarter and although they rallied  in the fourth quarter, it was not enough to overcome the defecit.  Najee Tucker had a career high of twenty points, and Seth Martin had twelve points on four three pointers but the Falcons dropped to 1-5 on the season.  In the Girls game, West upped its record to 6-0 with their win.  Freshman Khaila Hall led the scoring with 22 points, nine higher than she had scored in any game, and Shay Steele had 10 points, 10 blocks, and six rebounds.  Nycieko Dixon also added fourteen points.  West Rowan hosts Concord in a doubleheader Wednesday at Mt. Ulla, and then hosts Northwest Cabarrus on Friday.

Salisbury swept a pair of road games at Robinson Monday.  The Girls won 62-51, rallying from a 15-8 first quarter deficit to outscore Robinson 42-24 in the second and third periods to take control of the game.  Brielle Blair led the Lady Hornets with 24 points, as they improved to 4-2.  The Salisbury Boys won 59-46.  The game was tied at halftime 31-31, but Salisbury dominated the second half especially on defense (allowing only six second half field goals!), and took the lead with a 17-8 third quarter.  Deshaun Troutman had fourteen points to lead the Hornets, Corbin Usry added ten.  Salisbury is now 3-3 and will face East Rowan on the road Friday night in a game that will be broadcast on Newsradio 1490 and 1490wstp.com starting at around 7:30PM.

Tuesday night scheduled doubleheaders for Rowan teams include:  Central Davidson at Carson and East Rowan at Cox Mill.  Those are both scheduled for 6:30PM starting times.
