The Western and Eastern Regionals are this week for top High School Basketball teams.  Newsradio 1490 will be following the North Rowan Boys Basketball team in their competition that starts at UNC-Greensboro Friday night at 8:30Pm against powerful Winston Salem Prep.  The game will have play by play coverage on Newsradio 1490 and 1490wstp.com starting with pregame at 8:00PM.  The winner of that game will play for the Regional 1A West Title Saturday afternoon at 1:30Pm, and will also have play by play coverage if North Rowan wins Friday night.  The winner of the North-Winson Salem Prep game would be matched up against the winner of the first semifinal game Friday night between East Surry and Hendersonville for the Regional Championshp.  The State finals will be played the following weekend at NC State’s Reynolds Colliseum.  The games will be played at UNC-Greensboro Fleming Gymnasium.

Other Regional pairing for area teams this week with times and sites:  (Boys 3A) Statesville vs. Charlotte Harding 8:30PM Wednesday at the Greensboro Colliseum Events Center.  Winner plays for the Regional Championship Saturday afternoon at 1:30PM against the winner of the Gastonia Hunter Huss vs. Gastonia Ashbrook game that precedes that one.  (Girls 2A) Thomasville vs East Davidson 8:30PM at UNC-Greensboro Fleming Gym.  Winner of that game will play the Bandys-Canton Pisgah winner at 3:30PM Saturday afternoon at UNC-G.
