Friday marks the Third Round of the High school Football Playoffs for North Carolina and Rowan County once again has the 13-0 North Rowan Cavaliers hosting a powerful Shelby team in the 2A West. Shelby has a 9-4 record entering the game against the Cavaliers, but all of their losses came against high caliber competition. Three of the four teams they lost to are still playing in higher classifications, and the other, Burns, was eliminated by one of the contenders still left, Belmont South Point just last week. The winner of the Shelby-North Rowan game will play the winner of the Reidsville-Lincolnton game next Friday. North Rowan will be the home team if they survive this week being the highest Western 2A seed left. THe game will have broadcast coverage on Newsradio 1490 and 1490wstp.com starting pregame at 6:30PM for the 7:30PM kickoff. Howard Platt and Wilson Cherry will bring you the play by play.
Other games of note include: Belmont South Point at Concord and Gastonia Forestview at Lenoir Hibriten in 3A with the two winners to play for the Regional title next week. Newsradio 1490 will have score updates of these games and others during the North Rowan broadcast.
