Two teams managed to stay alive in their first round series with key road wins. The Boston Celtics won their second straight against the New York Knicks, this one on the road at Madison Square Garden, 92-86, as Kevin Garnett had 16 points and 18 rebounds, and Brandon Bass added 17 points. The Celtics rallied from an opening 11-0 deficit and have cut the series lead to three games to two, with the series heading back to Boston for Game Six Friday night. The Celtics will be trying to become the first team in the NBA to rally from a 3-0 deficit to win a series. Also winning Wednesday was Houston, also staving off elimination with a win at Oklahoma City 107-100. James Harden had 31 points to lead the Rockets, offsetting 36 from the Thunder’s Kevin Durant. Houston also is trying to comeback from a 3-0 deficit and is now improved to situation to three games to two, with Game six slated for Friday night at Houston. And Indiana took a three games to two lead over Atlanta with a 106-83 romp Wednesday night. The home team has won every game of that series with Game six slated for Friday night at Atlanta.
The Thursday schedule includes: Denver at Golden State with the Warriors up 3-2 in that series..Tipoff time is 10:30 PM…and Brooklyn is at Chicago with the Bulls leading that series three games to two. Scheduled tipoff time is 8:00 PM.
