Thursday Night Football

By Howard Platt on November 16, 2012

A win for North Carolina at Charlottesville, Virginia, using an outstanding passing attack and a much improved defense to outscore the Cavaliers 37-13.  Bryn Renner was 29-36 for 315 yards and three touchdowns, with receiver Quinshad Davis on the receiving end of  15 passes for 174 yards.  Carolina led 20-10 at halftime, and made a goalline stand in the third quarter that then turned into a 97 yeard drive that helped break the game open.  With the win, the Tarheels upped their record to 7-4 and end their season with Maryland a week from Saturday.  Virginia lost their chance to become bowl eligible with the loss, dropping to 4-7.

In the NFL, the Buffalo Bills defeated AFC East Rival, Miami 19-14, ending a three game losing streak.  Leodis McKelvin opened the scoring with a 79 yard punt return 90 seconds into the game for their only TD and Rian Lindell kicked four field goals.  Miami scored on a Marcus Thigpen 96 yeard kickoff return and Davone Bess a two yard touchdown catch.  With the win, Buffalo improved to 4-6, while the Dolphins dropped to 4-6.
