Braves lose series finale in New York

In a getaway afternoon game Thursday in New York, the Atlanta Braves lost 7-4 to the New York Mets.  John Buck drove in three runs for New York and Zack Wheeler beat the Braves for a second time on the mound.  Daniel Murphy and Marlon Byrd each had three hits.  The Braves got home runs from Dan Uggla and Freddie Freeman and tied the game briefly at 4- before the Mets broke it for good.  Rowan County’s Bobby Parnell got his 20th save, second of this series by pitching a scoreless ninth.  The Braves still lead the NL East by seven and a half games over Washington and Philadelphia.  The Nats ended their six game losing streak with a 9-7 win over Pittsburgh, as Bryce Harper hit a two run walk-off homer, his first game ending homer of his career.  The Phillies lost to St. Louis 3-1.  The Braves are returning to Atlanta to start a homestand against the Cardinals Friday night.  Airtime is 6:20PM for a 7:35PM first pitch.  The Cards are in for the weekend for their only visit of the year in Atlanta.  Mike Minor opposes Adam Wainwright on the mound.  Weekend games will all have full play by play coverage on Newsradio 1490.
