Braves Lose to the Mets

The Atlanta Braves continue to struggle offensively, losing to the New York Mets at Citi Field 4-1 Tuesday night.  Carlos Torres, a spot pitcher up to this point for the Mets, pitched six impressive innings allowing only one run on Andrelton Simmons home run on the second pitch of the game.  It was only his second start of the year.  Kris Medlen took the loss for the Braves.  The Mets broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth inning and made it stand up.  Bobby Parnell retired the side in order in the ninth to give the former Rowan Legion player his 19th save of the year.  Despite the loss, the Braves still maintained a seven game lead over the Phillies and eight games over the slumping Washington Nationals in the NL East.  Both of those teams lost also on Tuesday night. With each team having won a game in this four game series, the Braves and Mets play again in New York Wednesday night.  Tim Hudson goes on the mound for the Braves.  First pitch is 7:10PM, with pregame coverage starting at 5:55PM on the Braves Network on Newsradio 1490.  The two teams are set to conlude their four game series Thursday afternoon at 12:10PM.  Airtime Thursday will be at 10:55AM.
