Coaches Select College Football’s preseason Top Twenty-Five

Defending National Champion, Florida State, was an overwhelming pick to win the National title again in polling of Coaches in the USA Today/ESPN poll realeased Thursday.  The Seminoles received 56 out of a possible 62 first place votes.  Alabama was picked second followed by Oklahoma, Oregon, and Auburn with the first ever playoff looming at the end of this season for the top four.  North Carolina received a pre-season ranking of 23rd in the top twenty-five, their first preseason ranking since 2010. 

And an additiona football note, preseason football begins this week (Sunday) with the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills playing in the Hall of Fame game at Canton, Ohio.  Sunday’s game will start at 8:00PM.  The other NFL teams will have their preseason opener starting Thursday August 7th and through that weekend.  The Washington Redskins start their preseason Thursday when they play the New England Patriots at Fed-Ex Field at 7:30PM, and the Carolina Panthers have their opening preseason game Friday August 8th against Buffalo at Bank Of America Stadium starting at 7:30PM.
