College Baseball World Series: NC State Wallops North Carolina

The College World Series continued in Omaha, Nebraska Sunday with first round games in the double elimination tournament.  NC State beat up rival North Carolina 8-1 as Wolfpack pitcher, Carlos Rodon, continued his mastery of the Tar Heels, throwing a complete game five hitter, allowing  just one run and striking out eight.  He lost a chance for a shutout in the ninth but had complete control of the UNC bats, as he had in previous outings against them.  State knocked out Tar Heel ace, Kent Emanuel in just 2 1/3 innings, scoring four runs in the third inning.  Six of the Pack’s eight runs came after two were out.  The win moves NC State into the winners bracket game Tuesday against UCLA, who edged LSU 2-1.  They will play at 8:00PM.  North Carolina faces LSU in an elimination game Tuesday at 3:00 PM.

Monday’s games have an elimination losers bracket game between Oregon State and Louisville at 3:00 PM and Mississippi State vs. Indiana in the winner’s bracket game at 8:00 PM.
