Duke back to Number One

Duke has moved back to the top spot in the College Basketball polls after just a week..With losses by Louisville (last week’s number one) and Indiana (last week’s number two), the Blue Devils moved up after their win over Georgia Tech.  Michigan moved up to number two , with Kansas number three, Syracuse fourth, and Louisville is now fifth.  Indiana dropped to seventh.  NC State is 18th and plays at Wake Forest tonight at 7:00PM, their second game in three nights, having beaten Clemson 66-62 Sunday night.  Boston College visits Maryland also on Tuesday at 9:00PM.  Duke plays at Miami Wednesday night at 7:00PM, while UNC plays Georgia Tech in Chapel Hill Wednesday.  The Carolina-Ga. Tech game will have play by play coverage on Newsradio 1490 starting at 8:00PM Wednesday. 

In other results Monday night, Barton defeated Pfeiffer 76-68 at Wilson, while the Pfeiffer Women lost to Barton 58-55.  Also in Women’s Basketball, #3 Connecticut smashed previously undefeated Duke 79-49.  Duke had been ranked fourth, and it was their first loss in 17 games.  In other men’s top twenty-five, Syracuse edged Cincinnati 57-55, and Georgetown upset #24 Notre Dame 63-47. 

Locally Wedensday, Catawba hosts Mars Hill in a women’s-men’s doubleheader starting with the women’s game at 6:00PM and Livingstone hosts CIAA foe, Fayetteville State in a doubleheader beginning with the Women’s game at 5:30PM.
