Fund the funk! Kids marching band needs a little help

SALISBURY – You’ve probably seen them performing across Salisbury at special events and parades.  Little kids, elementary aged, wearing full uniforms, playing big instruments, and keeping in step as they march along.

The Mini Funk Factory Marching Band started as a drum-line for at-risk students at Overton Elementary School. It quickly grew into the first and only elementary school marching band in the state of North Carolina.

The band is now open to students in 20 elementary schools and 7 middle schools in Rowan County.

The program has been free for students from the start and now funds are needed to maintain the program. Students are asked to pay $50 a year to participate in the program.

Not all families can afford to pay and assistance is needed.

If you would like to consider sponsoring a child, make donations to the Mini Funk Factory Band Boosters, P.O. Box 3081, Salisbury NC 28144.
