High School Basketball

It was a busy Friday night for Rowan County teams on the Basketball courts.  West Rowan nipped East Rowan in Boys action at the East gym, as West’s Celexus Long hit a three pointer with less than a second left to give the Falcons a 51-50 victory.  Long’s shot came from the deep left corner overcoming at twenty-six point performance from the Mustangs Donte Means.  Long wound up with 15, as the Falcons upped their North Piedmont Conference record to 2-1, and 3-10 overall.  East dropped to 4-9, 1-2 in the NPC.  The West Girls had to rally from a 16 point defecit and trailed 20-9 at halftime, but took a 55-47 win over their East counterparts.  Shaw Steele led the Lady Falcons with 34 points, 25 in the second half to hike the team to 13-0. East held West to just nine points in the first half, but were outscored 46-29 in the second half.
