High School Basketball (From Friday)

Games involving four Rowan County schools played Friday night:  West Rowan took a pair from Mooresville.  The boys game was featuring a fourth quarter comeback from the Falcons, they edged their Mooresville counterparts, 54-52.  The Falcons rallie from a nine point deficit in the fourth quarter to win 54-52.  Seth Martin had a career-best 20 points, which included six three pointers, and clutch plays down the stretch by Zeke Blackwood and Broderick Avery pulled the Falcons through.  Mooresville lost a chance to get even with a critical turnover at the sideline by Dre Howell with just over two seconds left..Howell wound up with 19 points for the night.  It was the Falcons first win in five games.  Howell had 19 points for Mooresville.  In the girls game, West was never threatened in an easy 68-35 win. Nycieko Dixon had 24 points to lead West and veteran Shay Steele add nineteen.  The Lady Falcons are now 5-0.

North Rowan’s boys steamrollered North Moore 69-26, holding a 50-8 lead at halftime.  The North Girls got a 10 foot set shot for their winning bucket in a 65-63 win.  Aliyah Farmer got the winning basket with just two seconds remaining.  Special Washington led the scoring with 18 points.  North’s girls are now 2-0.  Carson rallied in the fourth quarter to hand Hickory Ridge its first boys loss of the season.  Carson led by twelve, only to give it up by the end of the third quarter, but rebound strong in the fourth quarter to outpoint Hickory Ridge 22-5 and take a decisive win, 71-55.  Tre Williams had 17 to lead the Cougarsl..In the girls game, Carson defeated Hickory Ridge 50-28.  Allison Blackwell had 24 points, and Kelly Dulkoski added twenty.  Carson’s boys are now 2-4, and the girls are now 5-1.  Central Davidson took two from South Rowan, a swamping in the girls game 75-28 and won the boys game 69-52.  And Davie County’s boys kept their record unblemished aih an 83-61 win over Alexander Central.  Cody Martin had 27 points, and brother Caleb added 21.  Tonight (Saturday) North Rowan takes on Salisbury, with scheduled 6:00PM and 7:30PM starts for Boys and Girls.

Tonight Salisbury takes on North Rowan (girls at 6:00PM, Boys at 7:30PM) at Catawba College’s gmnmadion
