High School Football Results

Friday night High School Football in Rowan County had only one county team victorious, that being the undefeated North Rowan Cavaliers, who once again played a dominating game, defeating Central Carolina’s Conference foe, East Davidson 46-7 for thier ninth straight win overall, and third conference win without a loss.  Lots of heroes for the Cavaliers, as Jereke Chambers led the way with 165 yards rushing on just eight carries that included a 99 yard touchdown run to go with the 39 yard run that opened the scoring for the game.  Chambers also went 80 yards on kickoff return for a touchdown.  Quarterback Alexis Archie had three rushing touchdowns of 5, 2 and 1 yard, and Kasuan Coney had two interceptions.  Mike Robinson also had a pick six, a forced fumble and a TD saving tackle.  East Davidson fell to 6-3 overall, 1-2 in the CCC.

In other action, Thomasville edged Salisbury 15-14, the Hornets leading at the half 14-0, but unable to hold the lead.  Carson was upset by Northwest Cabarrus 25-22, despite Brandon Sloop and Darren Isom combining for 279 yards on the ground, Sloop with 173.  Northwest got the winning points on a TD pass with 47 seconds remaining.  Unbeated SPC leader Concord struggled against West Rowan’s defense, trailing 7-6 at the start of the fourth quarter, but Running Back, Rocky Reid scored all three of his touchdowns in the fourth quarter to give Concord the 24-13 win over the Falcons.  West dropped to an uncharacteris 3-3 in the SPC and 5-4 overall.  South Rowan’s winless season continued as they once again were unable to stop their opponent.  Hickory Ridge had 590 yards of total offense and 431 rushing, mashing the Raiders 64-20.  Mallard Creek lived up to its billing as the state’s top team humbling Kannapolis 49-7.  And Davie County beat hapless Winston Salem Parkland 50-0.  Other scores had Lexington getting its first win of the season at West Davidson 34-32, Central Cabarrus 54 Cox Mill 14, and Ledford crushed East Rowan 41-14.  Next Friday’s game of the week for broadcast will have Cox Mill at West Rowan on Newsradio 1490 and 1490wstp.com.
