SALISBURY, NC (WBTV)- Six weeks later, and there is still no sign of missing Rowan County teenager Erica Parsons.
The investigation began on July 30 when she was reported missing by her adoptive brother, but the teen has been missing for nearly two years.
Allegations of abuse and the belief on the part of law enforcement that adoptive parents Sandy and Casey Parsons were lying, when they told investigators that Erica had gone to live with her grandmother, triggered a splash of publicity in the national media on Dr. Phil, Headline News, and the Nancy Grace Show.
Hundreds of tips poured in at that time, but what about now?
Investigators with the Rowan Sheriff’s Office and the FBI say the number of new tips has slowed to a crawl.
One investigator told WBTV that they’ve been going through all the tips that have been received.
They admit that most are not valid, many are repetitive, but they say they are still tracking them down in the hope that one may lead to the solution of this mystery.
From psychics saying they had a vision of they needed to look to find Erica’s body, to friends who say Erica is living with a hippie commune in Wilkes County, investigators with the Rowan Sheriff’s Department and the FBI have been tracking down leads in the search for Erica Parsons.
That’s one reason the FBI issued a new poster, late last week, with the age progression picture of Erica and reminded folks about the $15,000 reward for information about her disappearance.
On Wednesday, one investigator told WBTV they are grateful for every tip they receive.
Anyone with information on the disappearance of Erica Parsons is asked to call the Rowan Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700.
