Last of three sex offender brothers now in jail

SALISBURY – Sheriff’s deputies have now located the last of three convicted sex offender brothers who failed to notify the sheriff that they had moved from their home.

John Harris and brother Joseph were located and charged in December, but brother Jesse proved somewhat more difficult to find, at least until last Friday.

Investigators say Jesse Harris was detained at a traffic stop in Winston-Salem on a seatbelt charge when police there noticed that he had the outstanding warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.  Harris now faces that charge, as well as the traffic charge and several drug charges.

Harris is being held in the Forsyth County jail under $85,000 bond.

The three brothers were all living with their mother at 480 Mount Hall Road in Rowan County. The family was evicted from the home on Friday, December 7, after the homeowner, using the Attorney General’s Sex Offender locater app on his phone, discovered that the three registered sex offenders were living in one of his units.

Under North Carolina law a convicted sex offender must update law enforcement about any change of address within three business days of that address changing. Failure to do so results in additional charges.
