Local Baseball: Conference Tournament Update

The North Piedmont Conference, after a two day delay, finally got their first round games in on Wednesday.  South Rowan pounded West Iredell on their home field 13-5.  Dillon Parker drove in four runs, Eric Tyler had three hits, including two doubles and threw out two baserunners from behind the plate, and Dylan Goodman had two hits and scored two runs.  Nathan Lambert got his third win in four decisions.  East Rowan pounded winless Statesville 18-1 in five innings (10 Run Rule) Senior Third Baseman, Hunter Brooks had an amazing game, hitting three home runs, going 4-4 and knocking in six runs.  Harrison Bell and two relievers scattered three hits and struck out eleven, as the Mustangs improved to 11-12 overall.  West Rowan edged North Iredell 4-3, scoring three runs in the third inning to key the win.  Justin Evans had two hits and Michael Ball went six innings to up his record to 6-2, with Nick Collins getting the save in the seventh.  Juan Garcia also knocked in two runs for West.  In the Central Carolina’s Conference, West Davidson shutout Salisbury 3-0, as Justin Freeman tossed a four hitter and outpitched Salisbury’s Brian Bauk.  Freeman struck out a career high 13 and raised his record to 6-2.  Bauk pitched very well also, allowing just five hits and striking out 12, but the Green Dragons scored on  a passed ball, an error, and a wild pitch.  East Davidson advanced with a 4-3 win over Central Davidson.  And North Rowan was eliminated in the YVC Tournament by Chatham Central 8-0 in its first round game.
