SALISBURY – Rescue crews from Rowan and Davie Counties responded to a call of a possible drowning near the Cooleemee River Park and Erwin Temple Church Road on Saturday afternoon.

Officials told WBTV that five people were in the water near a dam.  Four people and a dog were rescued, but one man, reported to be a father of three, is still missing.  One person was taken to the hospital.

One man was clinging to the branch of a tree, according to witnesses.

Rescue crews have sent boats as far as six miles from the original scene in order to try and find the missing man.

WBTV has a crew at the scene and will update the story as more information becomes available.
