Longtime head football coach, Jerry Moore, has been relieved of his duties at Appalachian State. Moore won three consecutive National Championships at the school, and had one of the greatest upsets in College Football history at Michigan in 2007 and won his championships from 2005-2007. He spent 24 seasons at the school in Boone, winning 215 and losing only 87. An agreement between Athletic Director Charlie Cobb and Moore had a prior agreement that this past season would be his last , but didn’t make the decision public because he didn’t want to have the team lose its focus on the field. Assistant Coach Scott Satterfield will serve as the interim coach while there is search on for a permanent replacement.
