NCDOT will temporarily close exit ramp from I-85 South to George Liles Parkway

The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the exit ramp from I-85 South to George Liles Parkway (Exit 54) in Concord at 9 p.m. Tuesday, weather permitting.

The ramp will reopen by 6 a.m. Wednesday, September 4.

During the closure, crews will haul materials across the ramp associated with the $125.2 million I-85 widening project, converting 6.8 miles of I-85 from four to eight lanes from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73 (Exit 55), and rebuilding interchanges at Poplar Tent Road (Exit 52) and N.C. 73 to diverging diamond interchanges.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
