Dave Doreren was named the new Head Football Coach at NC State Sunday, the school holding a Sunday news conference in Raleigh. Doreren was the coach at Northern Illinois, where he was 23-4 in two season there, including 17-1 in conference play in the Mid-American Conference. His team was ranked #16 this year, but he won’t coach the Huskies in their bowl game against Florida State. Before taking over at Northern Illinois, Doreren, 41 years old, had spent five years at as assistant at Wisconsin, and also had worked as an assistant at Kansas, Montana, and Drake. He replaces Tom O’Brien, who spent six seasons at Raleigh with a 40-35 record.
