Police still working leads in murder of W. Bank Street man

SALISBURY – Salisbury Police are working leads to try and find who is responsible for the murder of Billy Henderson, 68, of W. Bank Street.

Henderson was found stabbed to death in a back room of his home by a caretaker who had come to check on Tuesday night just after 7:00 pm.

A 42-inch flat screen TV was also taken from the home the night of the murder.

On Thursday, Salisbury Police Captain Shelia Lingle told WBTV that, at this point, the motive remained unclear.

“We’re still following up on leads and doing interviews,” Lingle said.  “We’re still asking that anyone with information contact us, or call Crime Stoppers.”

Neighbors told WBTV on Wednesday that Henderson kept to himself and no one mentioned seeing anything unusual at the house.  The home is located just across the street from Hall’s Gym and a playground.

Annie Veen Davis, who had known Henderson for all of his life, was shocked to hear of his violent death.

“I can’t think of anyone who would want to harm Billy,” Davis told WBTV.  “I can’t think of anything to say about Billy that isn’t good.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Salisbury Police or Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
